ଡିଫେଣ୍ଡିଂ ବିଶ୍ବ ଚମ୍ପିଆନ ଭଗତ, ସେପ୍ଟେମ୍ବର ମାସରେ ଅନୁଷ୍ଠିତ ଟୋକିଓ ପାରାଲମ୍ପିକ୍ରେ ପୁରୁଷ ଏକକ SL3ବର୍ଗରେ ଐତିହାସିକ ସ୍ବର୍ଣ୍ଣ ପଦକ ଜିତିଥିଲେ । ନୂଆକରି ସ୍ଥାନ ପାଇଥିବା ବର୍ଷର ଶ୍ରେଷ୍ଠ ପାରା ବ୍ୟାଡ୍ମିଣ୍ଟନ ଯୋଡି ପୁରସ୍କାର ପାଇଁ ମନୋଜ ସରକାରଙ୍କ ସହିତ ପ୍ରମୋଦଙ୍କ ନାମ ମଧ୍ୟ ମନୋନୀତ ହୋଇଥିଲା । ସରକାର ଟୋକିଓ ଅଲମ୍ପିକ୍ସରେ ପୁରୁଷ ଏକକ SL3ରେ ବ୍ରୋଞ୍ଜ ପଦକ ଜିତିଥିଲେ ।
୩୩ ବର୍ଷୀୟ ଭଗତଙ୍କୁ ଯେତେବେଳ ୪ବର୍ଷ ବୟସ ହୋଇଥିଲା, ସେତେବେଳେ ସେ ପୋଲିଓରେ ଆକ୍ରାନ୍ତ ହୋଇଥିଲେ । ତେବେ ପଡୋଶୀଙ୍କୁ ବ୍ୟାଡମିଣ୍ଟନ ଖେଳୁଥିବା ଦେଖି ବ୍ୟାଡମିଣ୍ଟନଙ୍କୁ ଆପଣାଇଥିଲେ ପ୍ରମୋଦ । ବର୍ଷ ୨୦୦୬ରେ ସେ ପ୍ରତିନ୍ଦ୍ବନ୍ଦ୍ବୀତାମୂଳକ ପାରା ବ୍ୟାଡମିଣ୍ଟନ୍କୁ ଆସିବା ପୂର୍ବରୁ ସେ ସୁସ୍ଥ ଓ ସକ୍ଷମ ଖେଳାଳିଙ୍କ ବିପକ୍ଷରେ ଖେଳୁଥିଲେ । ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ବିଶ୍ବ ନମ୍ବର ୧ ଓ SL3 ଏସିଆନ ଚମ୍ପିଆନ ରହିଛନ୍ତି ପ୍ରମୋଦ ଭଗତ ।
