बर्मिंगहॅम: ऑल इंग्लंड बॅडमिंटन चॅम्पियनशिप ( All England Badminton Championships ) स्पर्धेचा अंतिम सामना रविवारी पार पडला. हा सामना भारतीय स्टार लक्ष्य सेन ( Indian star Lakshya Sen ) विरुद्ध टोकियो ऑलिम्पिक सुवर्णपदक विजेता व्हिक्टर एक्सेलसेन ( Olympic gold medalist Victor Excelsen ) यांच्यात झाला. या सामन्यात लक्ष्य सेनला विक्टर एक्सेलसेनने सरळ गेमध्ये पराभूत केले. विजेतेपदाच्या लढतीत त्याला डेन्मार्कच्या ऍक्सेलसेनकडून 10-21, 15-21 असा पराभव पत्करावा लागला. हा सामना 53 मिनिटे चालला. त्यामुळे लक्ष्य सेन हा उपविजेता ठरला. त्यानंतर लक्ष्य सेनवर पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी ( Prime Minister Narendra Modi ) आणि इतर मान्यवरांनी शुभेच्छांचा वर्षाव केला आहे.

ऍक्सेलसेनने दाखवून दिले आहे की, तो मोठ्या सामन्यांचा तगडा खेळाडू आहे. पहिल्या गेममध्येच 5-0 अशी आघाडी घेत, त्याने लक्ष्यला दडपणाखाली आणले. यानंतर दोन्ही खेळाडूंमध्ये 61 शॉट्सची रॅली पाहायला मिळाली, ज्यामध्ये डॅनिश खेळाडूने बाजी ( Danish player's bet ) मारत 9-2 असा स्कोअर केला. यानंतर ब्रेकपर्यंत तो 11-2 ने पुढे होता. लक्ष्यने दोन-तीन प्रसंगी चांगले फटके मारले पण पहिल्या गेमवर पूर्णपणे एक्सलसेनचे वर्चस्व होते, जो त्याने 22 मिनिटांत सहज जिंकला.

दुसऱ्या गेममध्येही एक्सेलसेनने 4-2 अशी आघाडी घेतली होती, पण लक्ष्यने लगेचच 4-4 अशी बरोबरी साधली. ऍक्सलसेनने सलग चार गुण मिळवत 8-4 अशी आघाडी घेतली आणि ब्रेकच्या वेळी तो 11-5 ने आघाडीवर होता. लक्ष्यने ब्रेकनंतर लागोपाठ तीन गुण मिळवले, पण ऍक्सेलसेनने त्याला परतण्याची संधी दिली नाही आणि लवकरच स्कोअर 17-10 असा कमी केला. यानंतर दोघांमध्ये 70 शॉट्सची रॅली पाहायला मिळाली ज्यामध्ये लक्ष्यने गुण मिळवले. ऍक्सेलसेनने स्मॅशसह सात मॅच पॉइंट्स मिळवले, त्यापैकी लक्ष्य केवळ दोन बचाव करू शकला. तत्पूर्वी, जपानच्या अकिनी यामागुचीने ( Akini Yamaguchi ) कोरियाच्या एन सेओंगचा 21-15, 21-15 असा पराभव करत महिला एकेरीचे विजेतेपद पटकावले.
