ಪಾಲಕ್ಕಾಡ್: ಕೋವಿಡ್-19 ಸಾಂಕ್ರಾಮಿಕ ರೋಗದಿಂದಾಗಿ ಉದ್ಭವಿಸಿರುವ ಬಿಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿನ ಸಮಯದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಪಾಲಕ್ಕಾಡ್ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಪಟ್ಟಂಬಿ ಮೂಲದ ಹದಿನೆಂಟು ವರ್ಷದ ಆನಂದ್ ತನ್ನ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಪೋಷಿಸಲು ಕೃಷಿಯತ್ತ ಮುಖಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಒಂದೂವರೆ ವರ್ಷದ ಹಿಂದೆ ತಂದೆ ತೀರಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಆನಂದ್ ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ವಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ನಂತರ, ತನ್ನ ಮೊದಲ ವರ್ಷದ ಹೈಯರ್ ಸೆಕೆಂಡರಿ ತರಗತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ತನ್ನ ಅಧ್ಯಯನದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕುಟುಂಬಕ್ಕೆ ಆದಾಯದ ಏಕೈಕ ಸಾಧನವಾದ ಕೃಷಿಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ಮುಂದಾದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಜಮೀನಿನಲ್ಲಿ 6.5 ಎಕರೆ ಭತ್ತ, 3.5 ಎಕರೆ ಬಾಳೆ ಮತ್ತು ತೆಂಗಿನ ಮರಗಳ ಮಿಶ್ರಬೇಸಾಯ ಮಾಡಿ, ಜೊತೆಗೆ 26 ಹಸುಗಳು, ಕೋಳಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮೀನು ಸಾಕಾಣಿಕೆ ಕೂಡ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಮೂಲಕ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಲಾಭ ಗಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಮನೆಯ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕೊಳವೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೀನು ಸಾಕಾಣಿಕೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹೈನುಗಾರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ 150 ಲೀಟರ್ ಹಾಲು ಉತ್ಪಾದಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ತಮ್ಮ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾನುವಾರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೇವು ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆನಂದ್ ತನ್ನ ಕೃಷಿ ಕೆಲಸಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಲು ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕರನ್ನು ಸಹ ನೇಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪೆರುಮುಡಿಯೂರ್ ಓರಿಯಂಟಲ್ ಹೈಯರ್ ಸೆಕೆಂಡರಿ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಪಿಯುಸಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದು, ಫಲಿತಾಂಶಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕಾಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
==Palakkad: Eighteen-year-old Anand, from Pattambi in Palakkad district, has taken up farming to support his family amid testing times due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Anand took over the responsibility of taking care of his family when his father died a year and a half ago. Then, in his first year higher secondary class, he took over agriculture which was the only means of income for the family, along with his studies.
Anand’s mixed farm comprises of 6.5 acre paddy, 3.5 acre plantain and coconut tree cultivation, besides 26 cows, poultry and fish farming.
The Pattambi kid chose agriculture following the footsteps of his father. In the field that his father used to reap the second harvest, this young farmer all set for his first.

He has also ventured into fish farming in a pond in the house premise. The dairy wing produces 150 litres of milk every day. He also grows fodder for the cattle in his farmland. Anand has employed guest labourers to help him through his farm works.
Anand, who just finished his Plus Two with Perumudiyoor Oriental Higher Secondary School, is awaiting has higher secondary results. He blends farming and studies so well at his young age and finds delight in farming, thereby setting a model for fellow youngsters.
