मैराथन धावक 84 साल के अमरिक सिंह की कोरोनावायरस से मौत

भारतीय मूल के एथलीट अमरिक सिंह की कोरोनावायरस की वजह से मौत हो गई. ग्लास्गो में रहने वाले अमरिक सिंह ने अपने पूरे करियर के दौरान 600 से अधिक मेडल जीते थे.

चंडीगढ़ : लंदन मैराथन में 26 बार हिस्सा ले चुके ग्लास्गो के प्रसिद्ध व्यवसायी 89 साल के अमरिक सिंह, चार दिनों तक कोरोनावायरस से लड़ने के बाद अपनी जान गंवा बैठे. उनके परिवार ने इस बात की जानकारी दी.

अमरिक ने विश्व भर में कई मैराथनों में हिस्सा लिया है. वो 1970 में भारत से ग्लास्गो आ गए थे.

उनके पोते पमन सिंह ने ट्वीट करते हुए लिखा, "शुभरात्रि अमरिक सिंह, आप चले गए हैं लेकिन आप कभी भुलाए नहीं जा सकते. आपने जो भले काम किए हैं और इंसानियत पूरे विश्व में फैलाई है उम्मीद है कि मैं उसका अंश भर भी कर सकूंगा."

उन्होंने ट्वीट करते हुए लिखा, "लोगों की मदद करने के अलावा, दौड़ना उनका जुनून था. संन्यास के बाद भी उनका रूटीन था कि वो सबुह जल्दी उठकर छह बजे जिम में ट्रेडमिल पर पहुंच जाया करते थे."

स्कॉटलैंड सिख समुदाय के संस्थापक अमरिक सिंह को पिछले रविवार अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था लेकिन 23 अप्रैल को उन्होंने अपनी अंतिम सांस ली.
