बेलग्रेड: सर्बिया के स्टार पुरुष टेनिस खिलाड़ी नोवाक जोकोविक ने गुरुवार को कहा है कि वो अमेरिका ओपन में हिस्सा लेंगे. कोरोनावायरस के कारण लगे ब्रेक के बाद ये पहला ग्रैंड स्लैम टूर्नामेंट होगा.
जोकोविच ने ट्वीट किया, "मैं इस बात की पुष्टि कर खुश हूं कि मैं सिनसिनाटी ओपन और अमेरिका ओपन में हिस्सा लूंगा."

उन्होंने लिखा, "कई तरफ से चुनौतियों और बाधाओं को देखते हुए ये फैसला लेना आसान नहीं था, लेकिन दोबारा प्रतिस्पर्धा करने की बात ने मुझे काफी उत्साहित कर दिया."
अमेरिका ओपन की शुरुआत 31 अगस्त से हो रही है जो बिना दर्शकों के खाली स्टेडियम में खेला जाएगा. वहीं इससे पहले 22 अगस्त से सिनसिनाटी ओपन होगा.
इस टूर्नामेंट में से हालांकि कई स्टार खिलाडियों ने अपना नाम वापस ले लिया है जिसमें स्पेन के राफेल नडाल और रोजर फेडरर जैसे बड़े नाम शामिल हैं.
वहीं, दिग्गज खिलाड़ियों के नाम वापस लेने का सीधा फायदा भारत के सुमीत नागल को मिला है. उन्हें अमेरिका ओपन के पुरुष एकल वर्ग में सीधा प्रवेश मिला है.
एटीपी के शीर्ष 128 रैंक तक के खिलाड़ियों को प्रवेश मिला है और नागल की इस समय की विश्व रैंकिंग 127वीं है. 22 साल के नागल सीधे प्रवेश पाने वाले इकलौते भारतीय हैं.
