विश्व बैंक समूह के 13वें अध्यक्ष बने मालपास, चीन के साथ रचनात्मक संबंध बनाने की इच्छा व्यक्त की

विश्व बैंक समूह के 13वें अध्यक्ष बने मालपास ने चीन के साथ रचनात्मक संबंध बनाने की इच्छा जताई है. साथ ही चीन की उपलब्धियों की भी प्रशंसा करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि चीन विश्व मंच पर एक मजबूत आर्थिक खिलाड़ी बन गया है.

वॉशिंगटन: डेविड मालपास ने विश्व बैंक समूह के 13वें अध्यक्ष के रूप में पद ग्रहण किया. पदभार संभालने के बाद उन्होंने अपनी पहली प्रेस वार्ता में चीन के साथ रचनात्मक संबंध बनाने की इच्छा व्यक्त की.

अपनी शुरूआती टिप्पणियों के दौरान, मालपास ने कहा, 'विश्व बैंक समूह के नए प्रमुख के रूप में वह दुनिया भर के विकासशील देशों को आवश्यक ऋण और मार्गदर्शन प्रदान करके बेहतर आर्थिक विकास प्राप्त करने में मदद करना जारी रखेंगे.'
उन्होंने 2018 के दौरान दुनिया की कुछ प्रमुख अर्थव्यवस्थाओं में जारी आर्थिक विकास को कम करने की घटना को इंगित किया, और वैश्विक अर्थव्यवस्था वर्तमान में सामना कर रही तीन प्रमुख चुनौतियों पर जोर दिया.
1- संरचनात्मक सुधारों की धीमी गति
2- कुछ उभरती अर्थव्यवस्थाओं में वित्तीय संकट
3- वैश्विक नीतियों में अनिश्चितता बढ़ रही है
वैश्विक स्तर पर, उप-सहारन अफ्रीका में अत्यधिक गरीबी में रहने वाले लोगों की संख्या बढ़ रही है. मालपास ने कहा, 'यह अनुमान लगाया जाता है कि अत्यधिक गरीबी में रहने वाले दस में से एक व्यक्ति 2030 तक उप-सहारन क्षेत्र से होगा.'
विश्व बैंक समूह के अध्यक्ष ने कहा, 'जैसा कि पिछले सालों के दौरान चीन ने अपने गरीबी उन्मूलन उपायों में सफलता दिखाई है, वह चीन के साथ रचनात्मक संबंध के लिए तत्पर हैं, और कई पहलुओं पर सहयोग को गहरा करने की उम्मीद करते हैं.'

World Bank Group President David Malpass on Thursday expressed his willingness to build a constructive relationship with China at his first press briefing since taking office in Washington D.C. earlier this week.
During his opening remarks, Malpass said that as the new head of the World Bank Group he will continue to help developing countries worldwide to achieve better economic growth by providing the necessary loans and guidance.
He pointed out the phenomenon of reducing economic growth being seen in some of the world's major economies continued during 2018, and stressed the three major challenges the global economy is currently facing - the slow-down of structural reforms, financial crisis in some emerging economies; and increasing uncertainty in global policies.
Globally, extreme poverty has dropped to 700 million at the last count, markedly down from the high levels in the 1990's and 2000's. But the number of people living in extreme poverty is on the rise in sub-Saharan Africa, and Malpass said it is estimated that one in ten people living under extreme poverty will be from the sub-Saharan area by 2030.
As China has shown success in its poverty alleviation measures during the past years, the World Bank Group president said he looked forward to a constructive relationship with China, and hoped to deepen cooperation on many aspects.
"We share a common view that poverty alleviation that shared prosperity are key goals of what the World Bank should be doing, but also what nations around the world should be trying to do. China, as we know, has been hugely successful in reducing extreme poverty in China," he said.
The new World Bank chief also praised China's achievements during the past decades, saying the country has changed dramatically to become a stronger economic player on the world stage.
