जनरल बिपिन रावत बोले - मानवाधिकार कानूनों का अत्यधिक सम्मान करते हैं सशस्त्र बल - राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग

नई दिल्ली : थल सेना प्रमुख जनरल बिपिन रावत ने कहा कि भारतीय सेना बहुत ही अनुशासन में रहती है. उन्होंने आगे कहा कि सशस्त्र बल मानवाधिकार कानूनों का अत्यधिक सम्मान करते है और उन्होंने न केवल देश के लोगों के मानवाधिकारों की रक्षा की है बल्कि अपने दुश्मनों के अधिकारों की रक्षा भी की है.

जनरल बिपिन रावत ने कहा कि भारतीय सेना इंसानियत, शराफत के मूलमंत्र पर काम करती है. यह पूरी तरह से निरपेक्ष है.

थल सेना प्रमुख ने कहा, 'भारतीय सशस्त्र बल बेहद अनुशासित हैं और वे मानवाधिकार कानूनों और अंतरराष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार कानूनों का अत्यधिक सम्मान करते हैं. भारतीय सशस्त्र बल न केवल अपने लोगों के मानवाधिकारों का संरक्षण सुनिश्चित करते हैं, बल्कि युद्धबंदियों के साथ भी जिनेवा संधि के अनुसार व्यवहार करते हैं.'

जनरल रावत यहां मानवाधिकार भवन में 'युद्धकाल और युद्धबंदियों के मानवाधिकारों का संरक्षण' विषय पर राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग (एनएचआरसी) के प्रशिक्षुओं और वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों को संबोधित कर रहे थे.

उन्होंने कहा कि सेना मुख्यालय ने 1993 में मानवाधिकार प्रकोष्ठ का निर्माण किया.

Indian army chief General Bipin Rawat says driving ethos of the Indian armed forces is “Insaniyat”( Humanity) and “Sharafat”( Decency). “They are extremely secular”, he says.
“Indian Armed Forces are much disciplined and have utmost respect for human rights laws and International human rights law.The Indian armed forces not only ensure protection of human rights of our own people but also of adversaries and deal with the prisoners of war as per the Geneva Conventions,” General Rawat says.

General Bipin Rawat was addressing the interns and senior officers of NHRC on the topic “Preserving Human Rights in times of War and Prisioners of War” at Manav Adhikar Bhawan, New Delhi today.
General Rawat says “Army Head Quarters had created a human rights cell in 1993, which now is being upgraded to the level of a Directorate to be headed by an Additional Director General.
“This will also have police personnel to address the complaints of human rights violations against the armed forces and facilitate related enquiries,” says Rawat.

On AFSPA, General Rawat says “over the years army itself has diluted its application in its own way under the ten commandments issued by Chief of Army Staff, which are to be strictly adhered by every soldier, & particularly those deployed for operations in anti-insurgency areas." Conclusion:
