રણજી ટ્રોફીઃ 13 વર્ષ બાદ બંગાળ ફાઈનલ રમશે

કર્ણાટકને હરાવી બંગાળ 13 વર્ષ બાદ ફાઈનલમાં પહોંચ્યું. 1989-90ની સીઝન પછી પ્રથમ વખત રણજી ટ્રોફીની ટુર્નામેન્ટ જીતે તેવી શક્યતા છે.

કોલકાતા: 13 વર્ષમાં બાદ વખત બંગાળે હોટ ફેવરીટ કર્ણાટકને 174 રનથી હરાવીને સેમિફાઈનલમાં પ્રવેશ મેળવ્યો હતો. બંગાળ છેલ્લે 2006/07ની રણજી ટ્રોફીની ફાઈનલમાં પહોંચ્યું હતું, પરંતુ મુંબઈ સામે હારી ગયું હતું. સેમિફાઈનલમાં 352ના લક્ષ્યાંક સાથે કર્ણાટકના બેટ્સમેનો લાંબા સમય સુધી ક્રિઝ પર ટકી શક્યા નહોતા. માત્ર 177 રનમાં આખી ટીમ પેવેલિયન ભેગી થઈ ગઈ હતી. સેમિફાઈનલના ચોથા દિવસે કર્ણાટકની ઈનિંગ માત્ર 56 ઓવરમાં જ ગબડી પડી હતી.

બંગાળ 1989-90ની સીઝન પછી પ્રથમ વખત ટુર્નામેન્ટ જીતે તેવી શક્યતા છે. બીજી ઈનિંગમાં, મુકેશ કુમારે બંગાળ તરફથી બોલમાં છ વિકેટ ઝડપી હતી. કર્ણાટકનો સ્ટાર બેટ્સમેન કે એલ રાહુલ આ મેચમાં ફક્ત 26 રન જ બનાવી શક્યો હતો. બંગાળ મેચની પહેલી ઈનિંગમાં બેકફુટ પર ધકેલાઈ ગઈ હતી, કારણ કે મેચના પહેલા જ દિવસે 67 રને 6 વિકેટ ગુમાવી દીધી ગઈ હતી.

જો કે, એપી મજુમદારે 149 રનની અણનમ ઈનિંગ રમીને બંગાળનો સ્કોર 312 રન સુધી પહોંચાડ્યો હતો. આ બાદ ઈશાન પોરેલે બંગાળ તરફથી પાંચ વિકેટ ઝડપી લીધી હતી. જેના કારણે ટીમને 190 રનની લીડ લેવામાં મદદ મળી હતી. બીજી ઈનિંગ્સમાં બંગાળ માત્ર 161 રન બનાવીને ગબડ્યું હતું, પણ કર્ણાટકને સારો સ્કોર અપાવવામાં સફળ રહ્યું હતું.
