টরন্টো (কানাডা), 14 মার্চ : কানাডার টরন্টোয় পথ দুর্ঘটনায় মৃত্যু হল পাঁচ ভারতীয় পড়ুয়ার (5 Indian Students died in an Accident in Toronto) ৷ গুরুতর জখম হয়েছেন আরও দু'জন ৷ তাঁরা হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন রয়েছেন ৷ স্থানীয় সময় অনুযায়ী শনিবার দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটে ৷ ভারতীয় দূতাবাসের তরফে পড়ুয়াদের বন্ধু-বান্ধবদের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করা হয়েছে ৷ মৃত পাঁচ পড়ুয়ার নাম হরপ্রীত সিং, জসপিন্দর সিং, করণপাল সিং, মোহিত চৌহান এবং পবন কুমার ৷
কানাডায় ভারতের রাষ্ট্রদূত অজয় বিসারিয়া জানিয়েছেন, পড়ুয়াদের যাবতীয় সহযোগিতার জন্য তাঁদের পরিচিতদের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করা হয়েছে ৷ পড়ুয়াদের পরিজনদের সমবেদনা জানিয়ে একটি টুইটও করেছেন ৷

দুর্ঘটনাটি 401 ওন্টারিও হাইওয়েতে ঘটেছে ৷ ওন্টারিও প্রাদেশিক পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, মৃত পাঁচ পড়ুয়ারা হল হরপ্রীত সিং, জসপিন্দর সিং, করণপাল সিং, মোহিত চৌহান এবং পবন কুমার ৷ তাঁরা একটি প্যাসেঞ্জার ভ্যানে করে যাচ্ছিলেন ৷ ভোর পৌনে চারটে নাগাদ তাঁদের প্যাসেঞ্জার ভ্যানটির একটি ট্রাক্টর-ট্রেলারের সঙ্গে ধাক্কা লাগে ৷ তাতেই এই মর্মান্তিক পরিণতি ৷ ঘটনার তদন্ত শুরু হয়েছে ৷ তবে এখনও পর্যন্ত কাউকে গ্রেফতা করা হয়নি ৷
