Driver arrested, bus seized as stunt show by tourist bus on school grounds goes viral
Kollam: The Motor Vehicle Department has seized the bus that was engaged in vehicle stunts on a school ground in Kollam after a video went viral on social media.
In Vidyadhiraja school in Vendar, Kollam, a video showed a tourist bus hired for excursion to Mysore, engaging in similar dangerous stunt. The driver was dangerously driving the bus carrying students in circles on the school ground. The students were leaning out through the window waving flags. The vehicle had two rows of balloons attached to its windshield, partially blocking the driver’s view. After the bus, a blue coloured car was doing ‘doughnuts’, a stunt where a vehicle is driven in circles in a small area, on the school ground. The visuals also showed students driving fancy bikes on the ground.
The bus was taken into custody after it returned from the excursion trip on Thursday. Reports claim that the licence of the driver was also seized and the driver arrested. Further action will be initiated after conducting a detailed probe.
In another incident from Anchal East Higher Secondary School the vehicle stunts engaged by tourist buses before the excursion, were repeated in different phases of the journey. Reportedly, the bus was carrying students when the stunt was performed. The video also shows many students on the ground cheering the driver. Students were made to stand inside two goal posts on the school ground. The bus drivers then drove the vehicles in circles around the students. Students were seen cheering and screaming.
Tourist buses went from Anchal East Government Higher Secondary School are now out of state. Punalur Joint RTO Suresh Kumar said, "Once these are returned, the buses will be taken into custody immediately. The school authorities also made a serious fault in the incident. The Education Department will be asked to take action against them.
The legal violations of tourist buses have been noticed throughout the state. The Department of Motor Vehicles has decided to remain vigilant in this regard.
