स्टेन ने दिसंबर 2004 में इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ पोर्ट एलिजाबेथ में टेस्ट मैच में पदार्पण किया था. वह दक्षिण अफ्रीका के सबसे सफल गेंदबाज हैं. डेल स्टेन ने 93 टेस्ट मैच खेले हैं. टेस्ट करियर को दौरान डेल स्टेन ने 22.95 के औसत से 439 विकेट झटके हैं इस दौरान उनकी इकॉनमी 3.24 रही.
