Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh): Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday met the members of the 'Nishad' community, who were allegedly harassed by the police recently.
Earlier, an MP from Allahabad parliamentary seat, Dr Rita Bahuguna Joshi demanded to conduct an impartial investigation in the police harassment case. Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav also sent a delegation to the village in connection with the incident.
Amid the high profile political visits in the state, the women in the Nishad community have demanded employment opportunities. Some of them were quoted by the media saying the visiting politicians failed to mention anything about providing jobs.
