Hyderabad (Telangana): Three men were arrested for allegedly drugging and gang-raping an undergraduate college student in Hyderabad earlier this month.
The young woman, a resident of Jubilee Hills police station area, had gone to her college to pay her term fee on October 5.
Her friend Joseph then called her and invited her on the pretext of celebrating a friend's birthday. The three accused - Joseph, Naveen Reddy, and Ramu, who all lived near the victim's house and were friends, took her to a lodge in the city.
The accused allegedly fed her a drugged cake and gang-raped her.
The victim was later threatened that she would be killed if she complained about the incident.
However, the matter recently came to light after the victim was taken to a hospital after she fell ill.
The victim was brought to Kukatpally police station on Friday evening to record her statement. All the three accused were arrested.
On the complaint of the victim's parents, the police registered a case under the SC/ST (Atrocities) Act and other anti-rape laws.
Meanwhile, the police said that they also suspected that the lodge's management had a role in the incident, and are currently examining CCTV footage.
