Jaipur (Rajasthan): Deputy Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan assembly, Rajendra Rathore, hit out at Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, saying that the latter was demeaning the post he was holding by using unparliamentary language against his own leaders.

In a video message, Rathore said that Gehlot was agitated on seeing his sinking ship, and was resorting to using unparliamentary language against Sachin Pilot, who was his party's state president for seven years.

"The unparliamentary words he is using is reducing the dignity of the post he is holding," he said.

Rathore further accused Gehlot of misusing agencies to threaten elected MLAs.

"There is a clear circular which states that only the CID (CB) will investigate into cases lodged against elected MLAs. But by making the SOG and ACB to investigate, there is an attempt to malign the image of the MLAs," Rathore said.

Rathore said that this was the first instance of a Chief Minister trying to get his own state party president and MLAs arrested.

"This is an insult to democracy. This will be known as a dishonourable incident in Rajasthan's political history," he said.

Earlier yesterday, Ashok Gehlot sharpened his attack on Sachin Pilot, using the derogatory term "nikkama", Hindi for "useless" or "incompetent", for the sacked deputy chief minister, with whom he is now locked in a tussle for power.

Referring to Pilot's performance as the state Congress chief, Gehlot said, "We knew he is 'nikamma' (useless), he is 'nakara' (idle) and not doing any work."

Gehlot did not mention Pilot by name, referring once to him as his "young colleague" and recalling that he had been given important posts by the party at an early age.
