Bhatha Sahib: Guru Gobind Singh and Sahibzadas' first stop after leaving Anandpur Sahib

Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his two elder Sahibzadas stayed at Gurudwara Bhatha Sahib during his first night after being separated from his family members. It is said that by the touch of the hoof of Guru's horse, a red hot brick kiln (Bhatha) instantaneously cooled down here and thus the name Bhatha Sahib Ji.

Punjab: The last week of December marks a special place in the history of Sikhism.

As Guru Gobind Singh Ji left Anandpur Sahib with his family, they went through various ordeals and made sacrifices one after the other for their people.

After visiting Gurdwara Chhan Baba Kuma Maski Sahib in Ropar, ETV Bharat will now share with you the significance of Gurudwara Bhatha Sahib Ji on its journey of martyrdom.

After leaving Sri Anandpur Sahib, Guru Gobind Singh Ji's family got separated into three groups.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji with the two elder Sahibzadas Baba Ajeet Singh and Baba Jujhar Singh Ji spent his night at this place now known as Gurudwara Bhatha Sahib Ji.

It is said that by the touch of the hoof of Guru's horse, a red hot brick kiln (Bhatha) instantaneously cooled down and thus the name Bhatha Sahib Ji.

The tenth Guru had visited this place on four different occasions during his lifetime.

He, his two sons along with some soldiers and followers marched towards Chamkaur Sahib after spending a night here.

In this Martyrdom Week of the month of Poh, that is the latter part of the month of December, the Etv Team which had set itself on Safar-e-Shahadat, that is, the Journey of Martyrdom, has now reached Gurudwara Bhathha Sahib Kotla Nihang Patshahi Dasvin situated in the city of Ropar.

As we have learnt by now, that while crossing the Sarsa River on the fateful night of 21 December 1704, the family of Guru Gobind Singh ji, the Tenth Guru of the Sikhs, gets separated and dispersed in different directions, never to meet again. The Guru’s family gets separated into three different groups.

After the separation at Sarsa River, the Guru, along with his two elder Sahibzadas Baba Ajeet Singh and Baba Jujhar Singh ji, spent that first fateful night at the place which is now marked by Gurudwara Bhathha Sahib. This historical place is known today as Gurudwara Bhathha Sahib Kotla Nihang.

The Tenth Guru had visited this place on four different occasions. After spending the night, Guru Gobind Singh ji, along with his two elder Sahibzadas and his followers and soldiers, marched ahead towards Chamkaur Sahib.

Now we shall move ahead in this pious pilgrimage of ours, and shall meet you on the next leg on this pious Safar-e-Shahadat—the Journey of Martyrdom.
