Gadchiroli (Maharashtra): A brief encounter took place between the Maharashtra police and Naxalites in the Koporigaon forest area of Gadchiroli on Monday.
The encounter took place after a C-60 search team of the state police came in contact with a group of Naxalites hiding in the forest area.
After an exchange of fire that lasted for half an hour, the Naxalites reportedly fled the spot, and a search operation was underway to track down the Naxals till the time of filing this report.
The search operation was launched after the Naxals on Sunday torched a truck stationed at a wood depot in Gadchiroli.
The ultras also called for a bandh in the district to stage their protest against the killings of two fellow women in an encounter by security forces that took place last month.
