Nandurbar: Renu Ramesh Vasav, an Anganwadi worker has proved that nothing can cease if anyone has the spirit and zeal to serve the society.

Walking miles alone, the Anganwadi worker delivers food to newborns as well as breastfeeding mothers, pregnant women and adolescent girls.

From the Narmada river bank to the mountainous area in Chimalkhedi area, she is constantly visiting the homes of the people living near these remote areas.

There are homes of many families across the Narmada river. To reach them she travels through the boat from one shore to the other by spending her own money.

Besides performing duties at villages, the Anganwadi worker spreads awareness about proactive measures to be taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Due to the dearth of appropriate channels of communication in remote areas, if a child has fallen seriously ill, Renu works to convey the message to the doctors of the mobile hospital.

She constantly advises pregnant women to attain a healthy lifestyle maintaining a balanced diet keeping into consideration to meet all the essential nutrients required by the body. At times of the urgency, Renu has to stay back with the family to connect with an experienced nurse and Doctor and seek guidance related to a patient’s condition whenever they face difficulty.

"I forget all tiredness after seeing smiling faces of the children, money doesn't matter that much to me, It is vital that the babies and the expecting mothers eat healthy food'' she said.

Renu's efforts to bring the benefits of all the schemes and services provided by the Integrated Child Development Department to the beneficiaries are certainly commendable.
