2 fall to death from second floor of Bengaluru pub

Two people, including a woman techie, were dead after they allegedly fell down from the second floor of a pub in Bengaluru in suspected 'inebriated' condition. They were climbing down the stairs when they slipped and fell to the ground through a window at the end of the stairs on the second floor of the pub on Church Street.

Bengaluru: In a freak incident, two people, including a woman techie, died after they allegedly fell down from the second floor of a pub here in suspected 'inebriated' condition, police said Saturday.

They were climbing down the stairs around midnight Friday after allegedly partying with friends when they slipped and fell to the ground through a window at the end of the stairs on the second floor of the pub on Church Street, they said.

According to police, the two, in their 30s, were immediately rushed to a hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.

The deceased were identified as Pavan Attawar and Veda R Yadav, who was working with an IT firm.

Incidentally, Police Commissioner Alok Kumar was on night rounds in the area to ensure implementation of a directive of the Karnataka High Court on identifying noisy pubs at nights and taking action against them, police said.

A case has been registered against the owner and manager of the pub under Indian Penal Code section 304(A) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), they added.
