Watch: 'Naagmata' cures people's sufferings in Dhanbad

The locals of Khilkanali village, situated in Govindpur town of Dhanbad district believe that a woman is possessed by 'Naag Devta'. People also believe that her supernatural powers cure their ailments and suffering.

Dhanbad: The locals of Khilkanali village, situated in Govindpur town of Dhanbad district, have a unique belief, bordering on superstitions!

'Naagmata' in Dhanbad's village

A woman, believed to be possessed by 'Naag Devta', has become the centre of attraction as people from far-flung places, including the locals, visit her to get cured of their ailments.

According to the locals, the woman has reportedly been possessed by the 'Naag Devta' for the past four years and one can see her in action at Lord Shiva temple at Khilkanali village.

During the weekly prayers, performed on every Monday, the woman goes into a trance to resemble a person possessed by a spirit.

People also believe that her supernatural powers cure their ailments and suffering. With reports of 'alleviation of their suffering', there has been an increase in the number of worshippers visiting the 'Naagmata' and the temple here.
