Police in Jammu & Kashmir's Kupwara seized 8 kg of narcotics worth about Rs 50 crore in the international market by busting a narco module and arrested a militant aide.

Kupwara (Jammu & Kashmir): Police have claimed to have seized 8 kg of narcotics worth about Rs 50 crore in the international market by busting a narco module in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

SSP Kupwara Sundeep Chakravarthy said, acting on a tip-off, police busted a narco module and seized eight kilograms of drugs worth about Rs. 50 crore. Besides a militant aide has been arrested. The arrested person has been confirmed as Mudassar Ahmed Lone resident Karen Bala.

Other people involved in the module have been identified and efforts are underway to arrest them, he said.

He further said that the module was linked to Pakistani handlers and was involved in financing militants in the Valley in addition to the drug trade.

He said the module was working to promote militant activities in the valley and entice young people to join the ranks of militants.

He said that a case has been registered in this regard at Kralpura police station and further investigation has been started.
