Chennai: A day after popular Tamil actress Chitra was found dead in Nzarathpet on the outskirts of Chennai, her mother has claimed that her daughter was murdered by her fiance Hemnath. The death of the popular Television actress has caused a stir on social media and several celebrities have mourned her sudden tragic demise.
Addressing a press meet, Chitra's mother Vijaya said, "My daughter was a brave girl who would not opt for an option like suicide. She was brave enough to come home all alone at midnight. The marriage ceremony of Chitra and Hemnath was fixed on February 10 but her fiance killed her. I will approach the police station and file a complaint."
However, Hemnath, in his statement to police, said he and Chitra had a court marriage two months ago.
Chitra had been staying in a hotel room with Hemnath. She had returned to the hotel room around 2.30 am and informed Hemnath that she is going for a bath. After a while, when Hemnath came inside the room, he found Chitra hanging from the ceiling.

However, Chitra's father did not suspect any foul play.
Hemnath, in his statement to police, said he and Chitra had a court marriage two months ago.
The post mortem was conducted in Keezhpak Govt Hospital in Chennai and the body was handed over to the family.
Chitra was doing the role of Mullai in the Popular Vijay TV Serial titled as Pandian Stores and she also did the title role in Velu Naachi on ColorsTamil.
Before she turned into television actress, she began her career as an anchor in TV channels for various programs and earned fan base. Following her sudden demise, various celebrities of South expressed their grief through Twitter.
