New Delhi: As many as 200 birds died while 700 suffered injuries after the banned glass-coated Manjha ripped through them as people flew kites on Independence Day.

Several birds got injured due to use of Chinese Manjha

Scores of birds, including pigeons, parrots, myna, eagle, among others were brought for treatment at Charity Birds Hospital in Chandni Chowk.

The Chinese Manjha is used widely as it is stretchable and does not break easily, it is made of nylon and glass and iron particles are applied to it. Doctors found pieces of glass and Manjha threads stuck in the wings or wrapped around the neck of the birds.

The Delhi government had banned the use of Chinese Manjha in 2017.

Intro:पुरानी दिल्ली में स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर जमकर पतंगबाजी होती है, पतंगबाजी के दौरान चीनी मांझे के इस्तेमाल से पक्षियों के घायल होने का खतरा बना रहता है, इस वर्ष भी भारी संख्या में चीनी मांझे से पक्षी घायल हुए हैं जबकि कुछ पक्षियों को अपनी जान भी गंवानी पड़ी है.

Body:दिल्ली सरकार द्वारा 2017 में चाईनीज़ मांझे पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया गया था, लेकिन जिस तरह लगातार पक्षी चाइनीज मांझा की चपेट में आकर घायल हो रहे हैं उससे साफ तौर पर जाहिर होता है कि बाजार में चाइनीज मांझा खुले आम बिक रहा है.

पतंगबाजी के दौरान चीनी मांझे से पक्षियों के घायल होने के मामले पुरानी दिल्ली में अधिक संख्या में देखने को मिले हैं, चाइनीज मांझे की चपेट में आकर पक्षियों के पंख, गर्दन और पैरों पर गहरी चोटे आयी हैं. आसमान में उड़ते समय पतंग के मांझे से पक्षी उलझते हैं जिसमें अधिकांश पक्षी घायल हो जाते हैं.

पतंगबाज चाइनीस मांझा का इस्तेमाल पतंग को कटने से बचाने के लिए करते हैं क्योंकि चाइनीस मांझा स्ट्रेचेबल होता है और आसानी से नहीं टूटता है, चाइनीज़ मांझे नायलॉन से बनता है और मांझे पर कांच और लौह कण लगाए जाते हैं. पक्षी जब चाईनीज़ मांझे की चपेट में आते हैं तब यह मांझा स्ट्रेचेबल होने के कारण टूटता नहीं है बल्कि पक्षियों के अंगों को काट देता है, जबकि पक्षियों के अंगों में फंसने पर देसी मांझा आसानी से टूट जाता है जिससे पक्षियों को चोटें नहीं आती.

पुरानी दिल्ली के चांदनी चौक में स्थित चैरिटी बर्ड अस्पताल में 13 अगस्त और 15 अगस्त के बीच 700 से अधिक ऐसे मामले मिले जिसमें पक्षी चाईनीज़ मांझे की चपेट में आने से घायल हो गए, जिसमें से 200 से अधिक पक्षियों की गंभीर छोटे लगने से मौत हो गई.

Conclusion:ऐसे में सवाल ये उठता है कि जब दिल्ली सरकार ने चाइनीज मांझे की बिक्री और उत्पादन पर रोक लगा रखी है, तो चाइनीस मांझा बाजार में क्यों बिक रहा है.
