New Delhi: Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal has stated that there will be no talks with centre till agriculture bills are repealed. NDA member Shiromani Akali Dal has quit from Union council of ministers as a protest against these bills. Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal resigned from the cabinet on Thursday.

While talking to media at his residence Sukhbir Singh Badal, when asked about the next strategy, said," We'll go to Punjab now, where party leaders and workers will hold a meeting. Since Shiromani Akali Dal is a party of farmers, we will struggle at the forefront. There can be no talks with the Centre till the bills are taken back".

As per sources Sukhbir Singh Badal had a meeting with party leaders via video conference on Saturday to plan further strategy.

Party workers from Delhi had reached his residence to honour him for the 'bold' decision taken by the party for farmers.

Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal earlier said the party was never consulted on the ordinances, and that Harsimrat, his wife, had told the government about farmers’ reservations. Farmers in Haryana and Punjab have been agitating against the ordinances/Bills. The party voted against the Bills. Farmers fear they will no longer get paid at MSP, while commission agents fear they will lose their commission.

The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020; The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement; and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 — promulgated by the NDA government, which has now tabled Bills in Rajya Sabha and will be discussed on Sunday.
