Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Friday permitted the Centre and the CBSE to cancel the remaining board examinations due to COVID-19 pandemic and gave the go-ahead to its scheme to award marks to students for the cancelled papers scheduled to be held in July.
The top court was hearing pleas seeking relief, including scrapping of remaining exams of Class 12 scheduled from July 1-15, in view of increasing number of COVID-19 cases. Similar relief was sought by the ICSE Board as well.

In the South American nation, Brazil exams would be conducted both in digital and paper format while the structure of the exam would remain the same.
Meanwhile, Norway has decided to cancel most national exams for the last year of junior high as well as high school. The Ministry of Education has announced that instead, schools will provide more continuous assessment so that the teachers will have the best possible foundation for setting grades.
In Japan, university exams (for public universities) usually consists of two phases. The first phase was held as scheduled in January 2020.. Following the requests from the Ministry of Education, some universities cancelled their university-specific phase 2 examinations.
Depending on the evolution of the COVID-19 Asian Pacific countries i.e. Bangladesh, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palau, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Samoa, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tonga, Uzbekistan, Vietnam are opting for rescheduling or postponement of exams.
