New Delhi: In yet another move to oppose the recent enactment of three controversial farm laws, Congress party, on Saturday, observed 'Kisan Adhikar Diwas' on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Pradesh Congress Committees (PCCs) and State leaders held 'Satyagraha' between 10 am and 4 pm, at every district headquarters to protest against the recently enacted farm laws.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Delhi PCC Chief Anil Chaudhary said, "On the death anniversary of our former PM Indira Gandhi, we are observing 'Kisan Adhikar Diwas' to explain the plight of farmers of our country to the Central Government. Indiraji used to interact with people to know their views on various issues before implementing any governmental policy. So, we are trying to show the Center that farmers themselves believe these laws are against them, then how come PM Modi is saying that it will be beneficial for the farmers?"

Congress' Telangana State in-charge Manickam Tagore alleged that the Central Government is 'hell-bent' on destroying the protective sphere of the farmers by 'removing' clause of MSP in the new laws.

"The way these three laws had been bulldozed in the Rajya Sabha during the last Parliament session, is a great question on democracy itself. Congress party is particularly raising this issue in a very rigorous way. We are going to the people asking for their support against these farm bills," he said.

The grand old party is also holding a signature campaign under which various PCCs are reaching out to farmers to collect two crore signatures which later will be submitted to the President of India, urging him to immediately withdraw the laws.

However, the Central Government is repeatedly blaming Congress party for 'misleading' the farming community about the new laws.

Replying to the allegations, Manickam Tagore said, "The lives of farmers have been handed over to Adanis and Ambanis. In this Government, ministers don't enjoy any power, only Prime Minister and Home Minister have all the powers. All others are only rubber stamp ministers."

"Our farmers themselves are saying that BJP Government is not in their favour. Our State Governments are trying ways to overrule these laws. General public is participating in our signature Campaign. So, we will once again urge the President of India to scrap these laws," said Anil Chaudhary.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Government has also introduced three bills in the Assembly to negate the impact of Center's farm laws. Earlier, Punjab Government had adopted a resolution against the farm laws and unanimously passed four bills to overrule Center's legislations.
