Hyderabad: The sequel to Aishwarya Rai's blockbuster movie from 2022, Ponniyin Selvan 2, is currently being promoted on a huge scale. The former pageant winner appeared in Hyderabad for a pre-release event and looked stunning in a shimmering red and golden ethnic ensemble. She completed her look with a small bindi and didn't wear much makeup.
The entire cast of the historic saga Ponniyin Selvan 2 was present at the grand Hyderabad event. The actor took the opportunity to express her gratitude to Mani Ratnam for giving her the chance to be a part of his several popular films. "I will repeat, repeat, forever.. thankyou for Iruvar, Guru, Raavan, and today for Ponniyin Selvan. I'm so grateful that you gave me the chance to grow professionally, and learn new things. I still have a lot to learn and will keep doing so. Thank you for allowing us to experience this wonderful world of cinema and this amazing craft, which we are fortunate to explore and learn about," the actor said.
"And I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to work with you on so many masterpieces of yours. Ponniyin Selvan was nothing short of magical for me," she continued. Aishwarya was accompanied by her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan and the duo returned to Mumbai late on Sunday after wrapping up the promotional event in Hyderabad.
Aishwarya will reprise her dual role in PS 2. She will be portrayed as both Queen Mandakini and Queen Nandini, who is deaf. Both the first and second parts are directed by the master filmmaker Mani Ratnam. Arulmozhi Varman and his ascent to the position of Rajaraja Chola I, the greatest king of the Chola empire, will continue to be the main subject of the movie.
It is anticipated that the second part will emphasise Vikram's flashback tale as Aditya Karikalan. The follow-up will also depict the romance between Ponniyin Selvan and Aishwarya's character Oomai Rani. The movie is a cinematic adaptation of the same-named Tamil novel by author Kalki Krishnamurthy, which was published as part of a series in the 1950s. After their widely praised 2010 film Raavan, this is Aishwarya and Vikram's third time working together.
