Forest department officials and members of Animal Rahat organisation helped the coryza-infected peahen by providing emergency care to the bird which showed a speedy recovery.

Solapur(Maharashtra): Forest department officials in Solapur came to the rescue of coryza-infected peahen after which the peafowl was released in its Rajur habitat.

Members of Animal Rahat organisation also joined hands with the officers to help the suffering peahen, which after medical attention showed signs of improvement after five days. The peafowl's condition became stable after five days and at present, it is even taking a flight amidst its habitat.

After the forest department found the coryza infected peahen in Rajur village of South Solapur Taluka, members of the Animal Rahat organisation were immediately contacted and were alerted about the bird's presence.

Recognizing the exigency of the situation, animal lovers of the organization admitted the peahen in their organisation and provided emergency care to peahen which is now completely cured of coryza. People were surprised to see the strong will power and grit of the peafowl as initially, it was not in a position to even barely walk but later showed tremendous signs of improvement.

"Coryza is nothing but acute inflammation of the mucous membrane of nasal cavities and it is also referred to as cold," said a member of the animal welfare organisation.

"When we released the peahen into its habitat, Solapur forest department’s Bapu Bhoi, animal lovers Mallikarjun Dhulkhede, Pravin Jeure, Sunil Arallikatti, Mukund Shete, Sidhbas Konde, Sarpanch of Rajur village Siddhara Devkate and Sanjay Birajdar were also present. We were happy to see that our efforts yielded successful results and the peahen was energetic as before. Seeing her making a flight in her own habitat was a sight to behold," said the members.
