চলতি বছরের ফেব্রুয়ারি মাসে প্রয়াত হন সুর সম্রাজ্ঞী লতা মঙ্গেশকর ৷ তারপরেই তাঁর পরিবারের উদ্যোগে সূচনা হয় লতা দীননাথ মঙ্গেশকর পুরস্কারের ৷ প্রথম বছর এই পুরস্কারে সম্মানিত হয়েছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী (PM Modi awarded with Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award) ৷

নয়াদিল্লি, 26 মে : প্রয়াত সঙ্গীত সম্রাজ্ঞী লতা মঙ্গেশকরের নামাঙ্কিত 'লতা দীননাথ মঙ্গেশকর পুরস্কার' এর অর্থমূল্য সমাজসেবায় দান করলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি (PM Narendra Modi donated the cash prize of Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar award to charity) ৷ বুধবার চিঠি লিখে শিল্পীর ভাই হৃদয়নাথ মঙ্গেশকরকে এই সিদ্ধান্তের কথা জানিয়ে দিয়েছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী ৷

চিঠিতে প্রধানমন্ত্রী লিখেছেন, "গত মাসে মুম্বইতে মঙ্গেশকর পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে আমায় প্রথম লতা দীননাথ মঙ্গেশকর পুরস্কারে সম্মানিত করা হয় ৷ আমায় এই সম্মান প্রদানের জন্য মঙ্গেশকর পরিবারকে ধন্যবাদ ৷ লতা দিদির অনুপস্থিতি আমি অনুষ্ঠানের দিনও অনুভব করেছি ৷" এই পুরস্কারের সঙ্গে পাওয়া অর্থমূল্য সমাজসেবায় দান প্রসঙ্গে চিঠিতে প্রধানমন্ত্রী লিখেছেন, "এই পুরস্কারের সঙ্গে 1 লক্ষ টাকার আর্থিক পুরস্কারও দেওয়া হয়েছে ৷ আমার অনুরোধ এই অর্থ কোনও সমাজসেবা মূলক কাজের সঙ্গে যুক্ত প্রতিষ্ঠানে দান করা হোক ৷ আমার মনে হয় এই অর্থ দিয়ে কিছু মানুষের জীবনে সদর্থক পরিবর্তন আনা সম্ভব, যেমনটা লতা দিদি চাইতেন ৷"
