দিল্লি ও কলকাতা, 30 জুলাই : শ্রদ্ধা ও ভালোবাসায় মনে রাখব তাঁকে । সোমেন মিত্রর মৃত্যুতে বললেন কংগ্রেস নেতা রাহুল গান্ধি । মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় তাঁর মৃত্যুতে পরিবার এবং অনুরাগীদের প্রতি সমবেদনা জানান । প্রদেশ কংগ্রেস সভাপতির মৃত্যুতে শোকপ্রকাশ করেন লোকসভার কংগ্রেস দলনেতা অধীর চৌধুরি । লেখেন, তাঁর রাজনৈতিক অভিভাবক ছিলেন সোমেন মিত্র । বাংলার একটা অধ্যায় সমাপ্ত হল ।
রাত 1টা 50 মিনিটে হৃদরোগে আক্রান্ত হয়ে মৃত্যু হয় সোমেন মিত্রর । বয়স হয়েছিল 78 বছর । 14 দিন ধরে কিডনির সমস্যা নিয়ে দক্ষিণ কলকাতার একটি হাসপাতালে ভরতি ছিলেন প্রদেশ কংগ্রেস সভাপতি ৷
গত কয়েকদিনে পরিস্থিতির অবনতি হয় । চারদিন ধরে নিয়মিত ডায়ালিসিস চলছিল । গতকাল তাঁকে প্লাজ়মা দেওয়া হয় । গতকাল বিকেলে হাসপাতালের ওয়ার্ডে কিছুক্ষণ হাঁটাচলাও করেন । আত্মীয়দের সঙ্গে কথা বলেন ৷ রাতে স্বাভাবিক খাবার খান । কিন্তু, এরপরই অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়েন ৷ গভীর রাতে তাঁর মৃত্যু হয় ৷
প্রদেশ কংগ্রেস সভাপতি সোমেন মিত্রর মৃত্যুতে শোকপ্রকাশ করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী । মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় লেখেন, "বর্ষীয়ান কংগ্রেস নেতা, প্রদেশ কংগ্রেস সভাপতি এবং প্রাক্তন সাংসদ সোমেন মিত্রর মৃত্যুর খবর দুঃখের । তাঁর পরিবার এবং অনুরাগীদের প্রতি আমার সমবেদনা ।"

সোমেন মিত্রর মৃত্যুতে শোকপ্রকাশ করেন ভারতের প্রাক্তন প্রধানমন্ত্রী মনমোহন সিং । সোমেন মিত্রর স্ত্রী শিখা মিত্রর প্রতি সমবেদনা জানিয়ে চিঠি পাঠিয়েছেন তিনি ।
শোকপ্রকাশ করে টুইট করেন রাহুল গান্ধি । তিনি লেখেন, "এই কঠিন সময়ে সোমেন মিত্রর পরিবার এবং বন্ধুদের প্রতি আমার সমবেদনা । তাঁদের পাশে আছি । সোমেন মিত্রকে আমরা শ্রদ্ধা এবং ভালোবাসায় মনে রাখব ।"

রাজনৈতিক জীবনে সোমেন মিত্রর অবদানের কথা উল্লেখ সোশাল মিডিয়ায় লেখেন অধীররঞ্জন চৌধুরি । অধীর লেখেন, "সোমেন মিত্র আর নেই এটা ভাবতে পারছি না । বাংলার একটা অধ্যায় সমাপ্ত হল । সংগ্রাম করে, প্রতিকূলতার মোকাবিলা করে নিজেকে প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছিলেন । আমার রাজনৈতিক অভিভাবক, আমাকে জনপ্রতিনিধি করার মূল কারিগর সোমেনদা'কে হারিয়ে আমি দুঃখে কাতর ও বেদনাহত হলাম ।"

জনপ্রতিনিধি হিসেবে সোমেন মিত্রর অবদান বাংলা সবসময় মনে রাখবে বলে উল্লেখ করেন রাজ্যপাল জগদীপ ধনকড় । শোকপ্রকাশ করে তিনি লেখেন, "বর্ষীয়ান কংগ্রেস নেতা সোমেন মিত্রর মৃত্যু অত্যন্ত দুঃখজনক । একজন সাংবিধানিক প্রধান হিসেবে তাঁর পরামর্শে উপকৃত হয়েছি । বাংলা সবসময় তাঁর অবদান মনে রাখবে । তাঁর আত্মার শান্তি কামনা করি ।"
