As the COVID-19 induced reverse migration has brought many families to their native places, various state governments have started NREGA activities in some measure. While there are still problems at the ground level, the reality is that not all can find jobs under the scheme. In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat News Editor Nishant Sharma and ETV Bharat's Regional Editor Braj Mohan Singh, All India Congress Committee's national spokesperson, Udit Raj talked about the migrant workers' issue across the country who are returning to their village due to coronavirus induced lockdown. Discussing the issue, Raj said that every addition to the list will push the MNREGA cost further up, and not meeting the demand could prove costly for the government. It would push the unemployment rate further, lead to more decline in earning, and cause an extended decline in private consumption, which originally led to the economic slowdown in India in pre-corona crisis times.
