🎬 Watch Now: Feature Video
Days after making controversial comments on recent killings over Charlie Hebdo cartoons in France, renowned poet Munawwar Rana was booked by Uttar Pradesh police on Monday. Meanwhile, speaking to ETV Bharat, Rana said that he would fight the case to its logical end. "Everyone who speaks the truth gets booked for defamation. Several people have faced it, even Mahatma Gandhi was also assassinated for speaking the truth. I am ready to face every harassment and I would not mind dying in jail for saying the truth." he said. "The caricatures are made to defame the Prophet Muhammad and Islam. Such acts force people to take extreme steps as in the case of France," he further said. The FIR was registered against him after Rana refused to apologise and asserted that his statement was harmless.
