WB: Coast guard arrests six persons from unidentified trawler on Hooghly River

An unidentified fishing trawler and a hovercraft were intercepted in the middle of Damodar Hooghly and Haldia river by the Indian Coast Guards on Monday morning. Also, as many as six among 12 people were arrested from the Hooghly River after the coast guard saw their movement as dubious. According to reports, they were roaming around the Haldia river since Friday. A senior official told ETV Bharat that they were in constant touch of a local fisherman from West Bengal. However, the official did not clarify whether the detained people were holding Bangladeshi citizenship or were Indian nationals.
