Jaipur: The controversy that rose in the Rajasthan Assembly on Friday regarding "daadi" remark continued on Monday as the House had to be adjourned till this afternoon due to the ruckus.

As soon as the proceedings started this morning, Opposition MLAs came down to the well and started protesting. The Question Hour started amid the chaos but the protest intensified at the end of the third question. The Opposition members kept raising slogans despite Speaker Vasudev Devnani warning of action if they continued to disrupt the proceedings.

The Speaker said that the members who have been suspended should leave but they remained inside the House. After this, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till 12 pm.

On Friday, a chaos broke out in the Assembly after BJP minister Avinash Gehlot referred to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as "aapki dadi" (your grandmother). In view of the protest launched by Congress MLAs, six members were suspended. Later, all the suspended MLAs were seen sleeping inside the House.

During the Question Hour, MLA Dr Jaswant Singh Yadav asked about the industrial units set up in Japanese John and Neemrana in Bahrod assembly constituency, in response to which, industry minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said that there is immense potential for industry in the NH-8 area. "If land is available, industry will be set up in Bahrod. Our government has taken special steps to provide employment to local people. The government helps in promoting industrial units," the minister said.

Next, MLA Lalit Meena asked how many Swami Vivekananda Model Schools and Mahatma Gandhi Government Schools are running in English medium in the state. Education minister Madan Dilawar responded that Mahatma Gandhi schools were opened in 2019 and schools with two rooms were approved but no staff were recruited. Congress government did not make any arrangements to run the schools properly for five years but had only hung boards, he said.

After this, MLA Shrichand Kriplani asked about electricity connection in tribal villages and minister Babulal Kharari said that during the entire Congress tenure, project worth Rs 652 lakh was only approved in Nimbahera assembly constituency and when BJP came to power, 28 projects worth Rs 455 lakh have been approved. Demand related to electricity is sent to the energy department immediately, he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma reached the House amid the ongoing ruckus. He held a meeting with the ministers at his chamber. The Speaker too is discussing on ending the deadlock by contacting the ruling and opposition MLAs.
