UP police urge people not to dispose bodies in rivers

Police in Uttar Pradesh have urged people to desist from water burials in the Ganges. The police also requested people to inform the authorities in case if anyone is unable to bear the expenses of cremation. The Ghazipur administration has capped the price of firewood at Rs 650/quintal and not more than Rs. 500 would be collected for cremating a body. In a bid to stop people from disposing of bodies in rivers, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday ordered patrolling by the SDRF and PAC.
