Wholesome and rustic is the best way to describe 'asli Punjabi Khana'. Dal Makhni, this traditional Punjabi dish is an absolutely delicious dal recipe. Made from whole urad dal with the skin on, simmered with spices, tomato purée and is slow cooked. The more time you take to cook the dish, the better it tastes.
