Introduce Yoga To Kids For Better Concentration And Health.

Will my child practice Yoga? This is the most common question posed, but as parents how willing are we to teach yoga to our kids. Stress is the most common reason for a compromised immune system, and whether we like it or not our kids are under tremendous stress, due to the new normal of COVID. Yoga conditions the lungs and helps in oxygenated blood circulation in the body, which further helps in the optimal function of our organs.

Yoga, philosophy, and the practical techniques mentioned therein have been practiced from ancient times and continue to be perceived in various forms to the modern era. Yoga is the way to develop and shape up the improvement process of individuals including body, mind, and intellect.

Children are fertile soil and we as adults can mold them to be better humans for the upcoming years. They are ‘the potential energy bunch’. Childhood is a highly energetic phase as compared to other stages of life and this energy needs to be harnessed in the right manner.

There are various ways in which Yoga can be taught to children. It can be incorporated into sports or the art class. Yoga covers an expanse of Discipline, Life Style Management, Healthy Habits, Food Consciousness, Awareness, Concentration, Decision Power, Healthy Body Mind index, Improvement of intellect, sharpen learning abilities, Social skills, Moral values, Social responsibilities, Sympathy towards others, Management of their emotions, etc., the list may go on.

How can we Introduce YOGA to Children?

First, we need to be aware of the possibilities of various forms and ways we can introduce Yoga to kids.

  1. As a discipline form which is actually the initial step of any yogic practice that covers the concept of Yama and Niyama. These can be individual rules and habits
  2. As a cleansing technique form that includes not only body cleaning but mind and intellect cleanliness with emotions balancing ways.
  3. As a musculoskeletal health concept of body frame postures to gain strength, endurance, and stretchability. Bodily health is a must to prevent injuries to muscles and bones. Also, it adds to the development of the body structures in a proper way.
  4. Concentration sharpening techniques. Pranayama, breathing practices can help in various ways including concentration and maintain an adequate amount of oxygen in the body which is crucial for development and maintenance.
  5. Meditation for kids is a bit untouched topic for many of us or maybe little understood. It deserves to be mentioned, that meditation is not a rigid concept to be practiced only with calm sitting postures. It includes numerous ways to practice according to one’s choice.
  6. Emotional management is a wide topic that covers no obstruction to flow and balances the flow of energy. Emotions are the energy we all have, it matters a lot how we manage it. This can be from an understanding of each emotion from its root to the non-possessive and non-obsessive ways of it.
  7. Introducing the Yoga philosophy at the kids’ level is to make them aware them their roles in the future and helps them to shape a sensible human for the upcoming years of their lives.
