Get Glowing With These Yoga Asanas!

A healthy glow and supple skin are what every woman dreams of having. What if you were told that you won't have to spend extravagantly on it? Try these moves suggested by our Yoga expert, Rinky Arya to obtain charming and glowing skin.

Hiding your skin under layers of make-up has become more of a trend on social media, showing off smooth and glowing skin. But why wear make-up and ruin your skin, when you can naturally achieve that amazing glow with simple yoga exercises? Our instructor, Rinky Arya, MA Yogacharya, Founder of Vimal Yoga suggests some asanas (poses) and how they are helpful:

This pose promotes blood flow to the face. It not only increases oxygen supply to the skin cells but also supplies helpful nutrients that fight the damage caused by free radicals and encourages skin rejuvenation.

  • Sit on the floor with your legs together stretched straight in front of you and spine erect
  • Inhale and raise your arms over your head and bend forward as you slowly breathe out.
  • Try to hold your toes, but Do Not force yourself too much. Go as far as you can.
  • Now breathe in and come up and repeat it again twice or thrice.
  • Now bend forward and hold the position for 20-60 seconds, while breathing deeply and come back to normal position.

The intense backbend that helps to open up the rib cage and increase lung capacity for inhaling more oxygen. This pose reduces stress and balances the hormones in the body that are responsible for acne and pimple outbursts.

Lie down on your back straight

  • Bend your knees so that your feet are flat on the floor with a little gap (parallel to your hips)
  • Place your hands above your shoulder in such a manner that the fingers face towards your shoulder
  • Now balancing your body on your palms and feet, push your upper body up, followed by your lower body off the mat.
  • Let your head hang but make sure you do not strain your neck.
  • Hold the position for 5-10 counts and very slowly come back to the normal position. If done with a jerk, you may end up hurting your head.

This Asana is considered the most effective yoga asana for glowing skin. It helps in improving skin texture and quality by promoting blood circulation towards your face. Practicing this asana 3 to 5 times a day will get your skin rid of pimple, acne, wrinkles, and dullness.

  • Lie on your back with hands on your sides.
  • In one movement, lift your legs, hips, and back up in the air, balancing your body on your shoulders.
  • Hold your back with your hands for support and bring your elbows to close.
  • Keep your legs close and straight with your toes pointed towards the ceiling.
  • If you feel any strain, come back to the normal position, otherwise, you can hold the pose for 30-60 seconds.
  • Very slowly come down by lowering your knees, placing your palms on the floor, followed by your back, hips, and legs.

Halasana is great for calming your mind, reducing stress and fatigue, and improving your digestive process. All of these problems tend to show on your skin and curing them automatically leads to a healthy and glowing visage. This asana is also known to regulate your metabolism and remove toxins from your body.

  • This pose is usually followed after the Shoulder Stand or Sarvangasana
  • After performing the Shoulder Stand, instead of going back to the normal position, bring your straightened legs slowly over your head in such a manner that your hips are facing towards the ceiling
  • You can keep your hands on your back for support or you can place them on the floor. You can also clasp the hands and stretch them in the opposite direction of your legs.
  • Hold the pose for as long as you can and slowly come back by first straightening your legs up, then placing your palms on the floor, followed by your back, hips, and legs.

Therefore, all these asanas will give you that natural glow, which no chemically produced make-up or skin products can. Enjoy a happy and safe yoga session!
