Durgapur (West Bengal): In a heart-wrenching incident, the lifeless charred bodies of two sisters and their West Bengal police civic volunteer brother were discovered on Saturday morning in their home. The victims have been identified as Mangal Soren (33), Sumi Soren (35), and Bahamani Soren (23). Authorities from the Durgapur Faridpur police have arrived at the scene to initiate a thorough investigation into the cause of this devastating incident.

According to police sources, Sumi Soren worked as a nurse in Kolkata, while her sister was a dedicated homemaker. Mangal Soren, recently engaged to be married, had the pleasure of having his sister Sumi home to participate in the preparations for the forthcoming wedding. When their elderly father, Hofna Soren, arrived at the residence, he was confronted with a locked door and smoke billowing from within.

Instinctively sensing danger, Hafna desperately broke down the door, only to find the charred bodies of his children amidst the engulfing flames. Without hesitation, the Durgapur Faridpur police were immediately alerted, and they promptly arrived to recover the victims. While Mangal Soren tragically succumbed to his severe burn injuries at the scene, the two sisters were rushed to Durgapur sub-district hospital, where doctors, regrettably, declared them dead.

Local residents expressed shock and disbelief over the incident, as preparations were underway for Mangal's upcoming nuptials, with the bride's family scheduled to visit his home for discussions the following Sunday. Sundari Murmu, one of the neighbors, shared her disbelief, saying, "There was no trouble at home. Mangal's sister works in Kolkata. She returned home for her brother's wedding and had taken leave until the conclusion of the celebrations. I am unable to comprehend what could have transpired."

Hafna Soren, the grieving father, recounted the harrowing sequence of events, stating, "I left the house in the morning, and upon my return, I noticed smoke billowing from our residence. Using a knife, I forced open the door, only to find them lying motionless inside. The neighbors promptly informed the police about the incident."

Durgapur Faridpur police has started investigation in determining the cause of the fire that claimed the lives of these three siblings. Speculation regarding the incident is rife within the community, with friends, family, and neighbours struggling to comprehend how such a horrific tragedy could have occurred in an otherwise peaceful household.
