Vikas Dubey encounter: Kins of Kanpur martyrs laud police action

After the killing of gangster Vikas Dubey, kins of police constables who martyred in an encounter that killed eight policemen in Kanpur praised the action of police. They also demanded action against those who backed Dubey.

Jhansi/Mathura/Kanpur: The most wanted gangster Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter on Friday morning after he tried to escape from the police custody after the vehicle of Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) that was bringing back Vikas Dubey from Madhya Pradesh to Kanpur overturned.

His encounter has brought a storm of reactions, and has raised several questions.

The kins of police constables who martyred in an encounter that killed eight policemen in Kanpur said they are satisfied, but it will never come in the light as who helped Vikas Dubey in escaping.

"I am very proud of the UP Police. Whatever they have done today has brought solace to my soul. I thank the administration & Yogi govt," said Tirath Pal, father of constable Jitendra Pal Singh who lost his life in an encounter at Bikru village in Kanpur on July 3.

Who backed Dubey: Asks wife of constable Sultan Singh

I'm satisfied. But now how will it come into fore as to who were backing him (Vikas Dubey)? It could have been unravelled by questioning him: Urmila Verma, wife of constable Sultan Singh who lost his life in an encounter at Kanpur's Bikru village on July 3.

Relatives of constable Devendra Mishra demand strict action against other perpetrators

Relatives of constable Devendra Mishra said that they will now be able to perform his cremation with ease. They have also demanded an investigation from the Yogi government to find out who else was involved in this crime, and take strict action against them.

"Today is "Shanti havan" of my brother. He had died today, and Vikas Dubey was also killed today itself. My brother's soul will rest in peace now," said the sister of martyred constable Rahul.

According to the police, Dubey was killed in an encounter after a police vehicle carrying him from Ujjain to Kanpur met with an accident and he tried to escape from the spot in Bhauti area.
