Lucknow: The staff members of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow have been quarantined after they attended a patient who tested positive for coronavirus.

According to sources, a 63-year-old patient was admitted to the hospital this month with cardiological problem and she had to undergo surgery for implanting a pacemaker.

Later, she complained of chest pain and was asked to get tested for coronavirus but due to emergency issues, the patient was shifted to the medical ICU and after angiography, the patient had a pacemaker surgery, sources said.

After the surgery, her swab samples were sent for testing at a government-approved private lab. The report on Monday morning found her positive, sources said.

Following this, the staff members, including the doctor who did the surgery, have been quarantined at the hospital. They have got their tests done for the virus and the reports are expected to come within three to four days, sources added.
