SIT and judicial panel submit report on Bikru encounter case

In the infamous Bikru encounter case, UP Police personnel were under the scanner. An investigation into the encounter by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and a judicial committee has submitted its report to the state government. Basing on this, the government will take action against the policemen found guilty.

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh): In the infamous Bikru encounter case, UP Police personnel were under the scanner. An investigation into the encounter by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and a judicial committee has submitted its report to the state government. Basing on this report, the government will take action against the policemen found guilty.

These policemen include senior police officers like the former DIG Anant Dev Tiwari. Even the CO Devendra Mishra, who was martyred in this encounter, has been found guilty in the investigation. However, due to his martyrdom, no action will be taken again him in the judicial inquiry.

On the night of July 2, 2020, Vikas Dubey and his associates attacked the police team that went to raid the house of a notorious criminal in Bikru village under police station Chaubepur. Eight policemen including Deputy SP were martyred in the incident. After this massacre, SIT inquiry committee and judicial committee were formed to investigate the incident.

Both the committees were investigating the role of the policemen in promoting the history-sheeter Vikas Dubey. The committee has found many policemen guilty in the investigation. Now, the UP government will take action against these policemen.

The commission has also found former DIG Anant Dev guilty in the inquiry. He is already suspended. Apart from this, UP Police officers including SSP Kanpur Dinesh Kumar, SP Rural Brijesh Kumar Srivastava, CEO LIU Shoshan Prakash, SP Rural Pradyuman Singh, CO Cantt RK Chaturvedi, CO Billaur Nandlal Singh and many other policemen were found guilty in this investigation. The report has been submitted to the Uttar Pradesh government.
