Rajasthan health minister offers COVID-19 testing facility to Uttar Pradesh

Days after Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that neighbouring states can avail COVID-19 testing facilities in Rajasthan, the state's health minister Raghu Sharma once again offered testing facility to Uttar Pradesh.

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh): Rajasthan Health Minister Raghu Sharma on Friday once again offered COVID-19 testing facility to neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.

Former Aligarh MLA and AICC secretary Vivek Bansal requested Sharma to provide testing facilitis to Aligarh and Uttar Pradesh as a whole owing to the issue the state was facing with rising cases.

"As in the rest of India, COVID-19 has spreas across Uttar Pradesh, due to which Aligarh and the state as a whole, is facing issues with testing," Bansal, who is also the party's co-incharge for Rajasthan, said.

Responding to Bansal's request, the health minister said that the Gehlot government had risen above politics to safeguard the health of the common man in this hour of crisis.

He said that the state has extremely good testing facilities, and is aiming to conduct 40,000 tests per day in a few days.

"The Chief Minister had offered to conduct up to 5,00 tests for the neighbouring states. If the Uttar Pradesh government sends in an official request, we will definitely provide them with the testing facility," Sharma said.

Earlier on June 15, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced that the six neighbouring states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat will be able to conduct 5,000 tests daily in Rajasthan if needed during this critical time of the pandemic.

Our recovery rate from corona has been better than the national average due to the higher number of tests conducted along with continuous monitoring and screening of people with high risk, he said.
