Firozabad (Uttar Pradesh): A railway employee allegedly committed suicide at a quarantine centre in FH Medical college here on Wednesday morning, becoming the first such case in the city.
The matter came into limelight after a hospital staff, who went to provide breakfast for the railway employee, witnessed the man was swinging with the clip of the ceiling fan.
Later, the hospital authority informed the local police, said Nodal Officer Dr Panchseel Sharma to ETV Bharat.
According to the initial reports, the 52-year-old man was shifted to a private room in the FH Hospital on April 20 after he showed some symptoms of the novel coronavirus.
Later, the man tested negative for three times consecutively. Also, the sample of the deceased man was sent for a checkup on Tuesday morning.
The Nodal officer also claimed that the man was in depression amid coronavirus, since he was admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered and investigations are underway.
According to the Health Ministry data, the city has 99 positive cases of Coronavirus until Tuesday evening.
