Muzaffarnagar family court order a woman to pay allowance to her husband

A family court in UP has ordered a woman to pay a monthly maintenance allowance to her husband, following a petition filed by the latter in this regard. The couple is living separately for almost 10 years.

Muzaffarnagar: A family court under the Khatauli Tehsil of ​​the district, Uttar Pradesh has asked a woman who is a government pensioner to pay alimony to her husband.

Kishori Lal works as a tea vendor and filed a suit seven years ago in Muzaffarnagar's family court for alimony.

Sohunkar was married to Munni Devi of Kanpur, 30 years ago. Shortly after the marriage, there was a dispute between the two.

The couple is living separately for almost 10 years. Munni Devi was a class IV employee in the Indian Army located in Kanpur.

Munni Devi had retired and is receiving a pension of Rs 12 thousand. Kishori Lal also works in Khatauli to sell tea, but due to his poverty-stricken condition, he filed a plea regarding the allowance in the family court of Muzaffarnagar seven years ago.

The family Court, while giving the verdict, issued an order of two thousand rupees alimony to Kishori Lal Sohunkar.

Kishori Lal Sohunkar is not completely satisfied with this decision of the court.

Kishori Lal said, "I am not satisfied with the court's decision. After almost 9 years, the court decision came and I fought the case by taking a loan. I have got my treatment done during lockdown by sourcing money from here and there. The dispute has been going on for 20 years. Since 2013, the matter is in the court, now Rs 2000 per month maintenance allowance has been ordered. While there is no mention of the case which I have been fighting for 9 years. The law is that 1/3 of the alimony should have been paid while I have got Rs 2000 per month. Her pension is more than Rs 12,000 per month.''

Advocate of Kishori Lal Sohunkar, Balesh Kumar Tayal said that the matter was pending in the family court. Whatever has happened between the two parties, Kishori Lal filed a case against it years ago. Even after the court's order to stay together, Munni Devi did not come to him. The total income of the opposition party is Rs 12,000. Both of them have not been divorced even though the court has already ordered both of them to live together.
