Lucknow: A woman in Uttar Pradesh has accused the state police of negligence of duty and abuse of power.
She said inspector Dinanath Mishra refused to register her complaint against her in-laws over harassment for dowry. She said the officer instead made her listen to a song and guess the name of the movie.
The woman in Mohanlalganj who got married during the lockdown said she was attacked by her in-laws with a knife and she was thrown off the terrace. She said she suffered injuries including a fracture on her knee and neck.
She said villagers helped her to reach a hospital for treatment. The woman said the police officer said her injuries were fake and boasted about beating his own wife and causing similar injuries.
Police registered the woman's case after ETV Bharat prominently reported her grievances against the police.
