Ghaziabad: As many as seven men including a groom were arrested by the police in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad district for violating lockdown rules implemented in the state to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
According to sources, Muradnagar Police on Monday arrested a group of people for defying the COVID-19 guidelines of the government by organising a marriage party in the district.
The groom, identified as Tajuddin of the same area was arrested by the local police for flouting the lockdown.
According to police, many people had come to attend the wedding function and violated the order of District Magistrate under section 144 of CrPC.
Tajuddin and his six friends were immediately booked under section 188 of IPC( 45 of 1860) on charges of violating order promulgated by the government, sources said.
