Gangster Vikas Dubey's wife collects his ashes from Bhairav Ghat 37 days after cremation

Gangster Vikas Dubey's wife Richa Dubey reached Bhairav Ghat in Kanpur on Tuesday afternoon along with her lawyer and elder son to collect the ashes of her husband. It is being told that Richa Dubey will go to Haridwar to immerse the ashes of her late husband in holy Ganga.

Kanpur: More than a month after the final rites of gangster Vikas Dubey, who was killed in an encounter by Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) were conducted, Richa Dubey, wife of slain gangster reached Bhairav Ghat in Kanpur on Tuesday afternoon along with her lawyer and elder son to collect the ashes of her late husband.

As per reports, Richa then went to Municipal Corporation Office of Bhairav Ghat to obtain the Vikas Dubey's death certificate, but due to incomplete documentation, she did not receive one.

It is being told that Richa will go to Haridwar to immerse the ashes of her late husband in holy Ganga.

Dubey was killed in an encounter after a police vehicle carrying him from Ujjain to Kanpur met with an accident and he tried to escape from the spot in Bhauti area.

After the accident, Dubey snatched the pistol of an STF personnel and tried to flee but was surrounded by the police team and he was injured in an exchange of fire. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.

The gangster is the main accused in the encounter that took place in Bikru village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur on the intervening night of July 2 and 3, in which a group of assailants allegedly opened fire on a police team, which had gone to arrest Dubey. Eight police personnel were killed in the encounter.

With more than 60 criminal cases registered against him, Vikas Dubey is a history-sheeter, a resident of Bikru village.

Wanted in several high profile murder, robbery and kidnapping cases, the gangster Vikas Dubey also has an alleged role in the killing of BJP leader Santosh Shukla in Shivli police station in 2001.

However, he was acquitted by a session court due to lack of evidence. Dubey's criminal record began in 1993 after he formed a gang with scores of youngsters and accumulated charges of attempted murder, abduction, extortion.

Having a strong political link, the criminal also kept a private army and he was the most sort out person in rigging the elections. He was even elected as the 'President' of Nagar Panchayat polls when he was lodged in jail.

A founder member of District Panchayat, Dubey was also accused of killing a business tycoon Dinesh Dubey and murder of an assistant manager of Tarachand Intercollege.

Vikas Dubey was said to be a close associate of Hari Kishan Srivastava, who was an MLA from Janata Dal and later Dubey allegedly killed Srivastava's rival Santosh Shukla.

During the regime of Mayawati in 2002, Dubey reportedly made an easy escape in Bilhaurm Shivrajpur, Chaubepur, Rania areas of Kanpur and even hoarded properties using illegal means.
