Five cops suspended for negligence of duty in Uttar Pradesh

The police officials posted at Balrampur police station and city police station of the district were suspended after a gunpowder unit blast at Gadurahba area of Balrampur. According to the district superintendent of police Dev Ranjan Verma, the policemen were suspended and departmental inquiry being initiated against them for allegedly showing negligence on duty.

Balrampur (Uttar Pradesh): Five policemen, including an Inspector-In-Charge, were on Tuesday suspended for alleged negligence of duty, informed Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur SP, Dev Ranjan Verma.

The officials posted at Balrampur police station and city police station of the district were suspended after a gunpowder unit blast at Gadurahba area of Balrampur.

According to sources, the blast raised the hackles of the Balrampur police brass as recently an ISIS conduit from Utraula area of the district was arrested from New Delhi and later IED (improvised explosive device) and other explosives were found from his native village. Hence soon after the incident, all senior officers rushed to the site to probe the matter.

The house of Mohammad Raza was rocked by a powerful blast on Monday that left his nephew (16) Nankan dead. Raza’s wife Shubra (40) and daughter Ruby (14) were also injured. The injured were rushed to a hospital, where their condition was said to be critical.

A subsequent probe revealed that an illegal cracker manufacturing unit was being run from Raza’s house and the fake licence was in the name of his brother Akram.

According to the district superintendent of police Dev Ranjan Verma, the action was taken after receipt of a complaint against the officers.
