Ghaziabad: A major fire broke out at the slums in Krishna Vihar, Ghaziabad on Tuesday ravaging more than a dozen huts and burning to ashes the belongings of the marginalised people.
No casualty has been reported so far.
According to reports, 10 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and efforts are on to douse the fire. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Police received a call at around 10 pm on Tuesday following which police personnel from Tila More and Sahibabad police stations reached the spot.
The officers reportedly struggled to handle the situation as panic-stricken people were running helter-skelter.
The thick blanket of smoke engulfing the area also added to the trouble. An LPG cylinder also caught fire and exploded.

The spot is a few kilometres away from Delhi and hence traffic from the city was affected for some time.
The fire and rescue personnel said it might take another few hours to completely douse the fire and confirmed that no one was missing or dead in the inferno.
