Double-murder rocked Gorakhpur during lockdown

Drunken brawl claimed the lives of two people in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday during the lockdown. The incident took place near Gora river bank in Badgawan village of the district in broad daylight. The deceased identified as Diwakar (26) and Krishna (24) died on the spot, while the accused fled from the location.

Gorakhpur: A double murder rocked Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday during lockdown when a 26-year-old youth and his relative were allegedly killed in drunken brawl. The incident took place near Gora river bank in Badgawan village of the district in broad daylight.

While it is being assumed that on Sunday, the incident took place after an altercation broke between the group of men while they were consuming liquor near the canal, on the other hand, the police said it is too early to say anything and investigation is underway.

The deceased identified as Diwakar (26) and Krishna (24) died on the spot, while the accused fled from the location.

On receiving information about the incident the Gorakhpur police reached the spot along with the forensic team to inspect the location and gather evidence.

The team of police, including DIG Rajesh D Modak Rao, SP North Arvind Pandey, CO Chaurichora Rachna Mishra and SO Jhangha Anil Kumar Singh reached the spot at an hour after the incident took place.

"Liquor bottles, pistol, mobile phone, motorcycle and two dead bodies have been recovered from the spot. An ID has also been found from the place which has details of a person named-Mukesh Putra Budhu. Blood patches were seen all over the place. Bodies have been sent for post-mortem," said an police official.

"The exact cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained," he added.

Case has been registered against seven people based on the investigation with the victims' families .

"We are engaged in the investigation of the incident and as soon as we gather any evidence in connection with the matter we will proceed further. The process to nab the accused is on," he concluded.
